Eyebrow and facial Threading service by Silk & Stone
We specialize in eyebrow design and take special care in creating arches that are just right for you. Our Latest Mentorship for Henna Art
We often guide teenagers and young kids in learning the art of henna for their school projects or to help them engage in fun and healthy activities. Below is a letter from a mom whose child recently finished one of our henna mentorship programs:
The project began at the beginning of the school year (October 2010)and ends in March 2011. The project began with choosing a topic. Each student was then required to select a mentor specialized in their topic. Rachael and a parent researched Henna Artists in the community and had the honor to meet Kaniz at Silk & Stone. As Racahel's mentor, Kaniz was a valuable assest to Rachael. Rachael met with Kaniz several times over a few months developing goals/objectives; receiving expert guidance, advice and assistance with Henna Art. Rachael learned how to make Henna paste and practice/paint Henna designs. Rachael also attended Kaniz's Henna Art class at PCC. The entire year long project has five aspects: a research paper on Henna Art; an oral presentation; a visual display; a timeline and a self reflection. This has proven to be an invaluable and successful experience!!! Rachael enjoys school, friends, soccor, basketball, camping and the outdoors. Rachael plays piano and enjoys service work on her spare time!
Kaniz- Thank you for all your guidance and expertise to assist Rachael with her ILP project. She is so proud of her work. We appreciate all that you do!!!
Rachael was provided an Independent Learning Project (ILP) experience by her Middle School with the purpose to nuture life long learning. Rachael chose Henna Art as her topic to study. Her sister had come home with a beautiful Henna painted on her hand one day and since then Rachael was inspired to learn more about Henna Art. This Idependent Learning Project is recognized as an opportunity for students to aquire and apply self-directed learning skills. The project empowers students: to increase communication skills; discover areas of strength; promote autonomy; and provide a level of understanding of new content knowledge.

Beautiful Indian dance by young Indian and American girls
Eastern culture becoming part of western culture!
Amarpali boutique's first anniversary was really vibrant, colorful, and fun. We (Silk & Stone) loved being a part of the event, doing henna body art for the guests. There were lots of dance performances of which we have included a video for your enjoyment. Watch this beautiful Indian dance performance by young American girls. (Dance lessons by Amarplai boutique ) enjoy and share. Video by Kaniz F. Shah of Silk & Stone

I really enjoyed doing this one! It was done freehand with henna for a client, Berlie, before the John Mellencamp concert. The best part was finding out the outcome of it... see below...! :) -Kaniz F. Shah
Kaniz,
Everyone loved the tattoo, My husband popped me up on the rail right when John walked out on stage. I was sitting directly in front of him and he took one look at my back, smiled a huge smile pointed at me laughed and nodded and shook his head with total amazement. (I am sure he thinks I am a psycho) lol I was just a few feet away from him for most of the show. When he sang his new song, "Save Some Time to Dream" I screamed “I love this Song John” he looked me square in the eyes, smile nodded again, and sang the first two verses while looking my way.
Thank you so much in helping make my concert the most awesome adventure ever.....
Berlie
